I’m not sure how long this will last - until the next criticism, I suspect.

The timing is interesting. My guess is that Beijing are confident in the way they have been spinning stories of bias in the western media, such that any alternative views on Tibet, for example, will now serve only to reinforce the seed planted in the mind of most Chinese.

Glad to know this news. But I have worries. Will more websites blocked after Olympic Games? I doubt that.

    Monica,

I’m absolutely certain that the BBC will be blocked again at some point BEFORE the Olympics.

  3. Monica Says:

Stu, u r right. BBC is blocked again this morning.

Actually, I just checked and it’s fine here - for now.

I think there’s some credibility in the argument that China wants to give access to it’s netizens so they can flood the message boards with pro-CCP comments in the wake of recent events.

  5. Monica Says:

But I can’t open it here. I tried many times, still failed. When I click “Asia and Pacific”, it is blocked

Yes, you’re right, monica. It doesn’t seem possible to navigate away from the homepage.

CCP are playing their silly games again.
