Perhaps I should have chosen my words more carefully. By &#039;pathway&#039; I meant that would be immigrants often use student status to get into a country and then find the means by which, legally or otherwise, they can stay.</description>

As for universities in the US, being a student is not a path to citizenship. In fact, part of the visa process is identifying those students who intend to stay.</description>
