A post title inspired by more hypocrisy from Beijing:

China’s official news agency, Xinhua, slammed the “Buy American” requirement of the U.S. economic stimulus package, saying in a commentary that trade protectionism is a “poison” that will harm poor countries.

The remarks on Saturday are the first indication of the reaction in Beijing to the U.S. measure, which has been criticized by U.S. business groups that fear it could invite other countries to keep American goods out of their own stimulus programs.

Read the rest here, then remind yourselves of China’s own brand of protectionism.

Update

The Telegraph has the story of China’s heir apparent in rant mode. Very much a case of ‘meet the new boss; potentially dumber than the old boss’.  And over at the excellent Granite Studio visitors can find a post to mark the 30th anniversary of China’s invasion of Vietnam. Not something you’ll find in a Chinese textbook.
